The Kansas City Comets kicked off their playoff run in the Ron Newman Cup Playoffs against Utica City FC on Monday night at Cable Dahmer Arena. After taking a 4-1 halftime lead with Ramone Palmer, Ignacio Flores, Leonardo Acosta, and Rian Marques finding net, the Comets looked set to a 1-0 series lead. In the second half though Utica came back, tying the game at 4-4 and sending it into overtime. In overtime the Comets didn’t waste any time as less than 30 seconds into OT, Flores scored his second goal of the game giving the Comets a 5-4 win and a 1-0 series advantage. The return leg is next Monday in Utica.
