Juice Boxes and Post Game Stats: Melia Moves Into Top 5

Saturday was a busy day for both of Sporting KC’s teams, with both the first team and the second team in action. Sporting’s 3-3 draw with the Portland Timbers has been talked about plenty here and on our podcasts. Later Sunday though, Sporting KC II took the field in Colorado against the Colorado Rapids 2 in MLS Next Pro action. After taking a 1-0 lead, KC allowed three by the Rapids and went down 3-1 at half time. Head coach Benny Feilhaber made four halftime substitutions and in the second half KC responded, scoring four times to win 5-3 against the Rapids. Here are stats and milestones from the two games Sunday.

Sporting KC

Tim Melia made his 255th appearance in MLS competitions, tying him with Davy Arnaud for 5th all time on that list.

Melia made his 272nd start in all competitions, tying him with Nick Garcia for 5th all time on that list.

Daniel Salloi made his 160th start in MLS competitions, tying him with Johnny Russell for 12th all time on that list.

Willy Agada’s 2 goals gave him 12 in league play for KC at home, tying him with Krisztian Nemeth and Gerso Fernandes for 17th all time on that list.

The 2 goals gave him 13 in all competitions at home for KC, tying him with Chris Brown, Mark Chung, Claudio Bieler, and Diego Rubio for 20th all time on that list.

Erik Thommy made his 50th start in MLS competitions, he’s the 66th player to reach that mark.

Sporting KC II

Ethan Bryant’s assist was his 4th in league play for KC, tying him with Daniel Salloi, Ualefi, Lebo Moloto, Tyler Pasher, Dillon Serna, Fredinho Mompremier, Collin Fernandez, and Andrew Draper for 15th all time on that list.

It was Bryant’s 4th in all competitions as well, tying him with Salloi, Moloto, Serna, Mompremier, Fernandez, Draper, and Nansel Selbol for 17th all time on that list.
