Juice Boxes and Post Game Stats: Comets Clinch Three Seed in the East

Thanks to a win and some help, the Kansas City Comets jumped up into third place in the MASL’s Eastern Conference and will finish there this season, setting up a match up with Utica City FC in the playoffs. Thanks to KC’s 10-6 win over the San Diego Sockers on Saturday night combined with two losses by the Milwaukee Wave to the Sockers and Monterrey Flash the Comets leapfrogged over their rival and into third.

On Saturday the Comets honored the club’s and KC indoor soccer’s all time leading scorer, Leo Gibson who is retiring, before their game against the Sockers. Gibson appeared in over 300 games, scored 334 goals, and added 297 assists. He’s the club’s all time leader in every offensive category.

While Gibson’s time with the Comets is done, a number of other Comets players reached milestones on Saturday night, here are the stats and and milestones from the Comets’ regular season finale.

KC Comets

Nicolau Neto recorded his 50th win in all competitions for KC, he’s the second goalkeeper to reach that mark.

Zach Reget recorded his 6th hattrick in league play for KC, breaking his tie with Lucas Sousa, Bryan Perez, and Max Touloute for 4th all time on that list.

It was his 6th hattrick in all competitions, tying him with Touloute for 4th all time on that list.

Reget’s 3 points gave him 70 in all competitions for KC, moving him ahead of Touloute and into 16th place all time on that list.

Reget’s 3 goals and Ray Lee’s goal gave them both 47 goals in league play for KC, tying them for 14th all time on that list.

Lee’s 2 assists gave him 43 in league play for KC, moving him ahead of Robert Palmer and into 10th place all time on that list.

Lee’s 2 assists gave him 49 in all competitions for KC, moving him ahead of Brian Harris and into 9th place all time on that list.

Lee made his 96th appearance in all competitions, breaking his tie with Kiel Williams for 13th all time on that list.

Lee made his 84th appearance in league play, tying him with Byron Alvarez for 14th all time on that list.

Ramone Palmer’s goal was his 6th game winner in league play for KC, tying him with Touloute and Reget for 8th all time on that list.

It was his 6th game winner in all competitions as well, tying him with Reget and Harris for 9th all time on that list.

Palmer’s 2 assists and Ignacio Flores’s assist gave them both 73 in all competitions for KC, tying them for 6th all time on that list.

Palmer’s 3 points gave him 148 in league play for KC, moving him ahead of Alvarez and into 6th place all time on that list.

His 3 points gave him 166 in all competitions, moving him ahead of Alvarez and into 6th all time on that list as well.

Rian Marques’s 2 assists gave him 27 in all competitions, breaking his tie with Geison for 15th all time on that list.

Robert Palmer made his 144th league appearance, breaking his tie with Perez and Vahid Assadpour for 7th all time on that list.

Lucas Sousa’s goal gave him 102 points in league play for KC, breaking his tie with Robert Palmer for 10th all time on that list.

Sousa made his 90th appearance in all competitions, breaking his tie with Adam James for 18th all time on that list.

KC Indoor

Neto became the 4th goalkeeper in KC indoor history to record 50 wins in all competitions.

Ramone Palmer made his 215th appearance in all competitions, tying him with Stefan Stokic for 17th all time on that list.
