Very interesting that there’s no Agada on the bench, I would think that energy in the second half, especially with Pulido having played midweek would be a welcome addition. Maybe he’s starting next week?

Sid Much Rock

He was “a late scratch due to illness.”

KCOutsider

Sick of PV not playing him?

kcrews123

2 changes from Wednesday.

Freaking. Changes.

KCOutsider

Getting some serious Monterrey vibes here. Would like to be wrong.

dal90

you were! (not to jinx it)

Joe Pacheco

Shelton?? I would rather see Zusi on the wing. Peter ball at it’s finest!!

CharredOne (aka Dachefsfan)

Tzionis would be my first go to behind Johnny

David Greenwald

It’s going to be a very physical game. Khiry can at least hold up to the physical demands of the bad weather and St. Louis playing like thugs.

kcrews123

I’m very jealous of how loud they are there. Just the “STL” chant is causing my speakers to crackle

KCOutsider

Not a problem here, I have my speakers down to 4 so my wife can sleep. This started after my usual bedtime.

CharredOne (aka Dachefsfan)

what’s up y’all! took a bit of a break from coming, but I’m back for this game and playoffs. Anyone else jittery nervous?

CharredOne (aka Dachefsfan)

wish they’d figure out how to get the broadcast announcers to be louder than the crowd noise mics

Kat

This game has everything. A nonsensical late start time. Freezing conditions. Taylor Twellman. Ted Unkel. What could be better?

Greg

Right on queue, Tunkel misses an EZ foul

KCOutsider

A Khiry Shelton hat trick?

Kat

I would die, like literally cease to exist if that happened.

kcrews123

And so begins the no-calls….

jdkus11

I’m sorry, but Shelton is just so bad. That ball from Jake was great and he just stood in the space and looked lost.

jdkus11

And again! Completely stopped that counterattack.

KCOutsider

And there again he takes a beautiful ball and runs about six paces across the plane of the goal trying to figure out what to do with it, instead of just whipping it in on goal.

KCOutsider

Everyone else: this weather sucks!
JFR: It’s fine Scottish weather. The rain is falling straight down. Well, a little to the side-like.

kcrews123

That’s a BS yellow. The ball was out before Kinda even touched it, he has every right to be mad there.

Josh Wallace

That yellow for Kinda is ridiculous. Klause got a talking-to for his reaction.

David Greenwald

And Vassilev has been an asshole 2-3 times already. Absolutely ridiculous double standard.

Chad Smith

I think by the letter of the law, that’s a yellow.

But, Stroud literally kicked Jake Davis during a dead ball situation and just got talked to. Be consistent!

Stu

Shelton asking for the ball just to jog to it and immediately give it up, pretty much sums him up

David Greenwald

The way Ted Unkel is calling this match favors StL so much. He’s just not going to call fouls unless someone breaks something or gets hurt.

As I type this, he calls the softest fucking foul on Rosero wrestling with Klauss. Like Pulido got laid out and a no call, but sure. That’s a foul.

CharredOne (aka Dachefsfan)

yet he didn’t call the foul when Shelton was literally wrestled to the ground in like the 2 minutes before that.

Chad Smith

Luckily Unkel did get his act together and recognize St. Louis fouls constantly and did start making some calls.

But I was nervous early in the game too!

KCSpurs1996

Majestic strike!

Josh Wallace

Very unlikely indeed. What a strike from Ndenbe!

jdkus11

NDENBE!!!!!!!!!

CharredOne (aka Dachefsfan)

Ndenbe that is the perfect moment for your first goal….

KCOutsider

This Belgian doesn’t waffle. What a strike!

kcrews123

Why?!?!?! We get a beautiful goal to give us a chance to take control of the game, but of course, we give up a set piece goal. That’s all on Pulido, he did absolutely nothing to clear it, and would have been called for a handball if they hadn’t gotten a goal.

well, the lead was nice while it lasted…

KCOutsider

Wrong Tim.

David Greenwald

Fuck Tim Parker.

KCSpurs1996

Great composure from Walter there. We’re back baby!

Josh Wallace

Man I love the guts we are playing with right now. SKC didn’t come in to sit back they are trying to get a win. Right now though, they have to hold this lead until half time.

KCOutsider

Personally I’d prefer they hold it until full time but I’ll take what I can get…

Josh Wallace

Me too! lol I want us to take it to halftime first though.

Greg

Unbelievable patience from Remi, way to tear that thing down and strike with a purpose. awesome, awesome goal

KCSpurs1996

We brought our shooting boots today! Also that was clearly off Shelton’s shoulder, no handball

KCOutsider

What the everloving hell is going on?

jdkus11

I can’t believe we actually had a VAR call go our way tonight. This is insane and I’m LOVING it. May not have a voice tomorrow just from screaming in the living room

CharredOne (aka Dachefsfan)

this has Def been worth staying up late for

KCOutsider

I’m not sure which fan base is more stunned right now.

Josh Wallace

As a quick side note: in the last four games, Jake Davis’s long passing has improved exponentially. It’s gotten better throughout the season, but you can really see those improvements these last four games. I was uncertain how much more he would develop but If he keeps picking up skills like this, man he’s gonna be a player for us.

KCOutsider

He is an absolute stud. Just love watching him play and develop. I never thought anyone could take Zusi’s place but man is he giving it a shot.

dal90

noticed fontas telling the guys to stay focused during the 2nd goal celebration…good leadership

kcrews123

I’m in a bit of disbelief right now. Definitely not what I was expecting.

Issue is with goal differential not mattering, STL can very easily change up the tactics to push forward HARD, and it’s well within their capabilities to out up 2, 3, or 4 on us (i.e. when they put up 4 on us in 17 minutes).

David Greenwald

I fully expect to see Adeniran come in to just throw numbers at us.

KCOutsider

Yep. Team’s still tired and often doesn’t defend leads well. Long way to go.

jdkus11

0.32 and 0.23 xG for STL and SKC respectively. That’s pretty nuts considering the scoreline, but also makes sense given that all of our goals came from outside the box.

Stu

Now time for Roger to come on and get a red for being too mean to the ref

KCOutsider

Kinda’s halfway there already

KCOutsider

Too bad away goals aren’t a thing.

Josh Wallace

Watching this game, Twellman is right, STL don’t look like they know what to do with possession. They look lost with it.

jdkus11

I was telling my wife (who definitely cared about what I was saying) that we needed to make them play with the ball tonight but wasn’t sure if Vermes would actually switch up tactics to do that. It’s clearly been working. He did something similar a few years back when we played Vancouver. It seems to be something he only does in the playoffs.

Josh Wallace

I remember that! And we were destroying Vancouver with those long balls. Yeah it seems PV keeps the big changes in the bag until the playoffs.

KCOutsider

That was my first in-person SKC playoff game!

Chad Smith

Then I remember in the next round it worked so well he tried it again and they were eliminated.

Hopefully he understands there is a difference between the way St. Louis plays and RSL/Houston.

That said, not counting my chickens until they hatch. SKC have another game to win still!

jdkus11

STL’s backline is just sloppy right now and I want us to capitalize on that. We’ve come so close twice now, another one has to fall again.

KCSpurs1996

wonderful flick on there by Pulido, that 4th goal was coming for awhile!

jdkus11

This was not at all what I was expecting out of tonight, but this is spectacular! Best part is, we’ll be able to rest Johnny for our home leg

KCOutsider

Really curious what PV does with subs here.

KCOutsider

This scoreline is poetic

Stu

Is this real life

IMG_8534.jpeg
KCOutsider

Is this just fantasy?

Chad Smith

[St. Louis is] Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality

Josh Wallace

It’s all fun and games until the playoffs start.

CharredOne (aka Dachefsfan)

you know STL is doing bad tonight when khiry is playing pretty well and was close to scoring

Josh Wallace

I need him to get a goal. lol That would be just so rich man.

CharredOne (aka Dachefsfan)

yes

KCOutsider

It’s pretty awesome to see SKC keep the pressure on, keep doing what’s been bringing them success. I hate seeing teams turtle and try to desperately defend a lead, especially when it’s not their strength. Keep the foot on the throat that got you there. SKC look like the team trying to make up a 3-goal deficit.

CharredOne (aka Dachefsfan)

lets see Tzionis on for Shelton

KCOutsider

Honestly I’m not sure about that. Shelton’s a good placeholder in this situation and we don’t necessarily need more offense. I think I’d bring on Espinoza for Kinda, give him a rest (and get that yellow off the field).

KCOutsider

Never mind, Thommy for Kinda instead,

CharredOne (aka Dachefsfan)

i mean more for fresh legs and more speed…

jdkus11

As much as I hate doing this, I think Pulido should come off for Tzionis and push Shelton up top. Maybe get Roger in for Radoja and push Remi back to the 6.

Josh Wallace

To be honest, Blom should’ve already been booked for dissent.

CharredOne (aka Dachefsfan)

you mean when he stomped on the ball?

kcrews123

I thought to too. What he did was no different than Kinda. The foikd he was booked for a BS, but if the same rules that spied to Kinda for dissent are followed, he should have had a card anyways.

KCSpurs1996

lol hearing them whine about the refs is hilarious…but yeah that’s a harsh yellow
