Erik Bergrud from the Kansas City Comets broadcast team and Thad Bell from the Kansas City Soccer Journal recorded the latest episode of The Blue Turf. We try to record in person and it gives Erik the opportunity to again say  we are back at the “World Famous” Kansas City Soccer Dome to watch practice.

Erik and Thad discuss the first two games of the new MASL season. The Comets kicked it off on the road with a dominant win over the Ambush. The same result came a couple of days later in Kansas City but not as dominant. The Ambush took the lead but the Comets came back to win that one as well. In the end neither game was very close. A lot of that was thanks to Phillip Ejimadu. He earned his first wins and assists but more importantly was amazing in goal.

Who stood out from those matches? Are the Ambush a better team? Or the same old Ambush with better players?

Commissioner Keith Tozer recently explained the reasoning behind the playoff format and location. Erik and Thad discussed it. Are fans right to be irritated? Is it a good idea? Can both be true?

Next up for the Comets is a trip to the Milwaukee Wave. Always a tough match and perhaps the real rival for Kansas City.
