If I had any faith that Shelton could string together two performances in a row like that one I’d say to start him again. His physicality, directness, and holdup play looked like it befuddled StL IMO. And with him up there we can sit back more and have that speedy option to play direct to.
If we really wanted to get crazy I’d say start Agada and Pulido together so we always have a speedy and more physical presence up top to hit on the break who can at least hang with StL for pace, who can also actually finish instead of having to look for the ball in, but this is Vermes so that likely won’t happen. Definitely need to start Kinda though. Thommy had a great year, this is true, but Kinda just brings a dynamism that Thommy doesn’t have while having all the directness that Thommy brings as well. The only places I think Thommy has an edge are in possession, which we don’t need and maybe don’t want against StL, and physicality but he doesn’t seem to get as many foul calls as Kinda.
Interesting take on Kinda. Depends on the ref. Sometimes Kinda just winds up on the ground while I scream that he needs to hit the weight room. Other times the ref shows pity on him and calls the foul for what was mostly shoulder-to-shoulder contact. If we get the calls, he’s great against a desperate physical team. If we don’t, well Thommy please.
Kinda v Thommy is definitely the big decision if everyone is healthy. They’ve both been very good at times down the stretch, a good problem to have to pick between them.
I think it comes down to the tactics. If SKC wants to play into the allcaps’ hands and possess, it’s Thommy. If they want to concede possession, counter and invite defensive chaos and offensive confusion for the pinks, it’s Kinda.
