So has Volo become a crosser in the last week? No? Then let’s hope he just hits Thommy and Pulido with the quick timely balls. Not bad last week. Should be better this week. Let’s go boys.
Settling in early to watch the first hour of MLS360. I hate this trend of teams wearing off-brand colors. RBNY looks ridiculous in Easter Egg yellow. Seattle in red is just wrong.
On the hopeful side, after an exciting Royals comeback win this afternoon, I’m hoping that mojo sticks with the city tonight. I don’t care what PV says, this is a must-win.
EDIT: And as others have said, ads during MLS360 are a really bad idea.
First starts tonight for Hernandez and Pulido.
First home starts on top of them: Russell, Rosero and Castellanos.
Only missed on my wild Duke prediction. Maybe I’m getting better (or luckier).
This is a…halfway decent lineup.
With Duke getting the SKC II look I thought you might have been right.
So… Is it time to panic now?
How many times is Tommy going to try to shoot through a crowd of players?
If no one is going to fill the channels for him to pass to, the shot is the best choice.
That Thommy run just now highlights an issue that’s been commented on before: SKC taking too long to make decisions in the final third. They get a good buildup, then hesitate close to the net or don’t/can’t make a good play there, and the opposing defense gets a chance to catch up and get set.
Keep the pressure up
Walter wins the ball twice in rapid succession. Neither time does anyone show for him to play out to. What’s the point of a press if you don’t keep the connections to break out in transition?
I was just writing that it’s great to have Aly back on the radio broadcast, when she gave a great shoutout to KC Soccer Journal! Listening to this is much better than the national pair.
Love to hear it!
I’m kind of bummed I’m never going to have this option because it’s inexplicably not in the replay of the match.
It is nice to finally have someone who is good in the air
Rosero makes me less nervous on every cross
He also makes us more dangerous on our corners!
Like what Felipe is doing so far, the rest of the team tho….
We really need a new left back. Is it Pierre that’s supposed to be over there? I don’t think voloder is the answer, he’s not good at cb and he’s struggling on the left side
Voloder definitely isn’t a LB.
Tim Leibold is supposed to be over there, but I wouldn’t rule Pierre out if he’s healthy first.
I’m not going to pile on Voloder. He’s not been a defensive liability @ LB. He’s not useful going forward. But that’s why he’s a CB.
Two injured LBs means there’s not going to be a lot of support from the position going forward. And no, I didn’t need to see Ben Sweat again.
I’m surprised the possession is so equal, I feel like we’ve only had the ball in our half. I just was hoping for a little more from us with such a good lineup in.
This is feeling more even than I’m comfortable with.
Good save by Yarbrough on a solid Rosero header from the corner.
Soft yellow to give up by Rosero. Not a smart foul by him either.
And there goes our new cb
He’s back up. Though how he isn’t going through concussion protocol right now surprises me.
Oh man, that collision looks bad. That Rapids player looked unconscious before he even hit the ground.
Yikes. Straight head to head collision.
I’m glad to see the broadcast isn’t showing the collision over and over. Tasteful.
Stretcher crew casually walking over there……no rush guys
Why would they rush if the med team isn’t ready for them? Pretty clear they’re not ready to move him yet. Don’t understand this criticism.
Yeah, the medical crew was making sure it was safe to move him. Avoiding a spinal injury is worth the minute of stoppage time.
I was making a comment about them just looking like they just wondered over there. Nothing to get upset about
And I’m just saying I didn’t understand the comment. They did exactly what they should do; don’t panic, stay out of the way until they’re called for, don’t crowd the med team. There’s an implied criticism that just didn’t feel warranted.
Ok bro 😒
I sometimes forget Yarborough was born in Mexico and went through the youth ranks. Reminded me when it panned to him and pulido chatting
Not cool zooming in on his face Apple…..
SKC really miss Kinda. Right now there is such a lack of a final ball or key pass and Kinda is so good at that. Thommy is great, but he plays very much so like winger (which is what he largely played in the Bundesliga) in the central attacking mid position and doesn’t have a feel for playmaking.
Wow.. Max with back to back dodgy challenges on a yellow.
Lovely spot and ball from Pulido. That is what SKC has been missing.
Oh, that was a tricksy little feed from Pulido to Hernandez. More of that, please.
8 mins for stoppage seems a bit light. Was watching Psv earlier and they gave 8 mins just for the fast break. When you add the collision and the fast break it seems awfully light
I had the same thought. On reflection, the rest of the half had very little stoppage, but that still felt short.
Why can’t we score? This is not a rhetorical question! I really want to know!
Disjointed attack. First game with close to a full-strength front line. And then there’s a reworked (again) midfield behind them.
Voloder is a CB playing LB, and has no cross. So Colorado is not respecting him in wide areas. Which means Salloi and Thommy have less room to work in. In addition to the lack of chemistry I mentioned above.
Am I wrong or do we still look not dangerous? Pulido had some beautiful passes, but other than him and Felipe’s energy, there didn’t seem to be a whole lot of offense.
You’re not wrong. No chemistry.
This is the first time all year I bet on a kc win……if I lose my 5 bucks I’m gonna be pissed
Sorry, you lost your $5. 🙁
Thommy needs some time in the bench. This isn’t an off night like the local broadcast is trying to spin it……it’s an off season
Thommy isn’t a 10. Which is Pearce’s description of him. Thommy is an 8 being asked to do entirely too much.
And frankly, there’s no one to bring in for him.
I’d counter he’s not being asked……he’s trying. He has the players we’ve been waiting for to help. And there’s still multiple instances of late passes, foolish shots, and meaningless runs. I know pulido and Johnny are still working back but it doesn’t change that there’s still too many missed chances coming frlm him
Has Thommy been practicing with Tzionis? He’s got a case of dribble through everyone tonight.
Meanwhile the snakebit offense continues; Pulido shoots right to the keeper.
Every game Thommy has to play with a different midfield. None of them playing off him well yet. And then there’s the issue he isn’t a 10. But he’s being forced to play like one.
Right now the team are victims of the cure. The more “better” players we get back, the more disjointed things are in the short term. I’m cool with being patient as this transition happens, but at the same time, the optics aren’t good in the short term.
I don’t want to sound histrionic, but how much longer can we be patient? Yes, it’s a long season but it ain’t that long. We’ve already blown through 20% and have 3 points. We just lost at home to a winless team that were missing 2 of their DPs (for half the game at least). There has to come a time when we stop thinking that this is a championship caliber team that just hasn’t quite got it together yet. Or am I overreacting?
Oh, I hear you. I just can’t bear the thought of giving up yet again, so I’m clinging to a Sounders-style (or Current, if you prefer) revival.
Another good save by Yarbrough. Pulido maybe could’ve picked the spot better. But credit where due.
Oh god……
Late, reckless, potential to injure? Yeah. That’s a yellow.
Better from SKC so far 2nd half.
And here comes barrios baby shit yellow Mohawk
One touch that thommy
That long possession with no goal sums up SKC’s season
That start from Pulido was hopeful. Looked good and was impactful. Sure hope Agada can make a difference.
How do we not score there?!!!!!!!
For the love of god
How does Daniel Salloi turn down the shot on the pass straight from the defense?
And then, of course it’s Rubio. Why is Melia moving there? Bad from him.
Diego f’in Rubio. Loved him when he played for us. Hate playing against him. And much as I hate to say it, great job by Barrios distracting the defense.
Yeah no, I’m done. Screw this season.
As clarification, I’m done for tonight and I hate the season so far, but I’ll be tuning in again next week. Just trying to mitigate my pain this evening.
There’s still hope. Just too much potential for it to stay like this all season. Question is whether it takes too long to stabilize.
Yes, I agree, but tonight is beyond frustrating. Just like you said, this was a must not lose and we couldn’t even accomplish that. Changes were made from last week, which is good, but there should be more changes than just player personnel. I’ve been a fan since I was like 6 and even I’m starting to feel some real fatigue supporting this side. Screw tonight. And also, screw Peter for trading away Diego Rubio for Kellyn Rowe. Rubio would not solve our problems, but that has to be one of the worst trades and it has come back to bite us in the butt every freaking year.
Now I’m just being angry at random things so I will sign off and hope that I can catch more positive vibes before thinking about Sporting again.
I will not forgive PV for ditching Rubio for the revolving door of uselessness that replaced him. And yeah, I’m pretty disgusted. Sporting was NOT supposed to turn into the Royals. One team like that is enough in my life.
The entire time I saw rosero pushing up I kept saying no…no…..no….No!
this is getting into “so bad it’s actually interesting to watch” territory
As much as this game was a must win, it was doubly so a must not lose.
My man dany is doing too much
This team is more snakebit than an Indiana Jones villain.
They’ll be able to score against Tulsa Athletic…right?
If you’re the left wing on the right side, who do you think is going to be making a back post run?
