Juice Boxes and Post Game Stats: Joveljic Scores 400th Goal at Children’s Mercy Park

Sporting KC started the Kerry Zavagnin era on Saturday night against St. Louis City SC at Children’s Mercy Park. For the first time in two hundred days, Sporting came away as winners, topping their rival from across the state of Missouri 2-0 thanks to a pair of goals for Dejan Joveljic. Zavagnin became the seventh different person to officially hold the title of head coach for a game for KC joining the likes of Ron Newman, Ken Fogarty, Bob Gansler, Brian Bliss, Curt Onalfo, and Peter Vermes. Zavagnin became the third coach to win their first game in charge, joining Newman and Onalfo, and joining Newman as the only two coaches to win with a shutout in his first game in charge.
Here are the stats and milestones from last night’s game.
The game was Sporting’s 1,100th game in all competitions.
Dejan Joveljic’s 2nd goal was KC’s 400th in league play at Children’s Mercy Park.
John Pulskamp made his 50th start in all competitions, he’s the 78th player to reach that mark.
