Shades of Blue: Back to the soccer
Actual Sporting KC players, kicking an actual ball, around an actual field.
The ball is rolling for Sporting KC preseason and we can finally get back to talking about actual players kicking a ball around a field. We can get back to what a Sporting KC show SHOULD be.
Like complaining that the team hasn’t made any signings yet.
And getting excited about reserve players we will never see.
“Is that guy ever coming back from injury?”
You know… all your favorites.
Shades of Blue is talking about Sporting KC’s draw with Charlotte and the current roster for the preseason. Will they bring in a new signing this transfer window? Where will they spend the money if not on an attacking midfielder?
EA FC leaked most of the new kits to be released around MLS this year ahead of schedule. If true, the argyle is back for SKC.

I gotta side with Cody in the debate with David. Just because no one is signed, doesn’t mean SKC didn’t have targets or plans in case Kinda didn’t return. It may just mean those guys didn’t sign, or their teams decided not to sell, or a million other things.
SKC, on the soccer side, are pretty good about not leaking anything, so I don’t think we’ll ever know unless an agent leaks something. Maybe nothing was happening, but maybe they just didn’t have anyone they loved that they could pry free. Don’t make a mistake and sign a bad DP. You are stuck with them for 3-4 years usually, so get it right.
Not getting your business done quickly is a sign of a bad FO.
I just think there is more nuance than that. Is LAFC a bad front office because they’ve not been able to get deals over the line this winter? This isn’t a video game, sometimes things fall apart for human reasons.
Now can we question PV and company for other things they’ve done? Absolutely. Lots of misses. But signing players is tough business. I’d rather they take their time and get it right.
Didn’t seem to struggle to get Kinda and Pulido done early. Johnny came 1/31 so maybe something will happen by Wednesday.
I think it’s a failure of the LAFC front office to not get business done so far, yes.
But I doubt you’d say LAFC are a bad front office. I’m guessing things haven’t gone according to their plans. I suspect there are so many moves that fall through that we just never hear about.
