The National Women’s Soccer League and the Kansas City Current announced the 2025 schedule. The Current will be looking to build on their successful inaugural season at CPKC Stadium. They open the NWSL season on March 15th when they host the Portland Thorns at CPKC Stadium.

In their twenty-six regular season matches,  Kansas City has seventeen Saturday matches, six Fridays, two Sundays and one lone Monday match at Angel City. If the Current are in a playoff position fight at the end of a tight season, they will have the advantage of some home cooking. They play two of their last three and five of their last seven at home to close out the season.

The Current will have games on ION, ABC, CBS, CBSSN, ESPN, Prime and NWSL+.

The 2025 season begins March 7, with the 2025 NWSL Challenge Cup at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando. It features a meeting between the previous campaign’s winner of the NWSL Shield and the reigning NWSL Champion. Since Orlando Pride claimed both the regular season and playoff titles in 2024, the 2025 NWSL Challenge Cup will be a rematch of the 2024 NWSL Championship between the Pride and the Washington Spirit.

The regular season kicks off on Friday, March 14, competing in a balanced 26-match schedule, The schedule has been formatted to avoid staging NWSL matches during FIFA windows so there will be no conflicts between club and country.

The league will pause play for a CBA-mandated break at the end of June and during July while confederation competitions (UEFA Women’s EURO, Copa America Femenina, etc.) are staged. This will also give NWSL clubs the opportunity to compete in matches against other professional women’s teams.

For Kansas City fans they will have an opportunity for a double-header on March 15th. The Current’s home opener is a match at 11:45 vs the Thorns and Sporting KC hosts Minnesota United across town that evening. On the downside there is three instances where both teams play at home at overlapping times. June 14th, August 30th and September 20th will see the Current start matches at 6:30 while an hour later Sporting KC will kickoff across town.
