When the Kansas City Current take the field at CPKC Stadium for the first time on March 16, the club will usher in their new era in style!

The Current unveiled a set of new Nike primary and secondary kits ahead of their historic season.

The Heartland Red primary kit features teal stripes down each side of the jersey. Superimposed in a darker shade of red are the same three rivers seen on the KC Current crest.

“The thoughtful and intentional design reflects the club’s identity in multiple ways. It provides a sense of joyful expression, it celebrates the current energy around the team and the Kansas City community, and it draws inspiration from the landscape of the Missouri River,” Current VP of Marketing Jocelyn Monroe said.

The Current’s kit drop is part of a league-wide release of new primary and secondary kits. For the first time, all 14 NWSL clubs will enter a season with new primary and secondary kits.

According to the NWSL, all secondary kits are designed with a gradient using each club’s colors which is used to signify “strength of the collective.”

The new secondary is an updated look to the 2023 kit which was a solid white top with teal shorts. While it is not an all-teal kit like some fans were hoping for, the introduction of the teal gradient brings a splash of the desired color into the jersey. The NWSL release also states that there would no longer be white shorts for players “based on practical concerns from players.”

“This historic uniform refresh with Nike exemplifies our continued commitment to raising the bar and elevating the NWSL brand with vibrant kits that symbolize the powerful connection between the clubs, players, fans and our communities,” NWSL Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer Julie Haddon said in a release. “We are excited to build upon this energetic moment as we approach our 2024 season kickoff.”

The United Way is the front jersey sponsor, with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City and Ally Bank featured on the sleeves.
