The name of the game in cup competition is survive and advance. Teams aren’t always going to play their best, and when a team in the top division travels to a lower division side there’s always a little extra in that game to make it more meaningful. Last night wasn’t the best performance by Sporting KC in their 2-1 win over Union Omaha to advance to the round of 16 in this year’s US Open Cup, but it was job done. Here are the stats and milestones from Wednesday night.
