The Kansas City Comets are within a breath of clinching a playoff spot in the Ron Newman Cup playoffs in the MASL after an 11-6 win over Utica City FC on Sunday in Independence. The win combined with an overtime loss by the Baltimore Blast to the Monterrey Flash put KC within a point of clinching a playoff spot. Either one point earned by KC in their final two games, or one point dropped by the Blast in their final five games and the Comets will clinch a playoff berth. The game on Sunday saw a number of Comets’ players climbing the club’s all time lists in league play and in all competitions. Here are the stats and milestones from Sunday.

Zach Reget’s first goal was the 2,300th in all competitions for the Comets.

Reget’s hattrick was his 5th in league play, tying him with Max Touloute and Bryan Perez for 4th all time on that list.

It was his 5th hattrick in all competitions for KC, tying him with Perez for 5th all time on that list.

Reget’s fourth goal was his 43rd in league play for KC, tying him with Touloute for 16th all time on that list.

Reget’s 1st goal was his 40th in league play, breaking his tie with Alain Matingou for 17th all time on that list.

Reget recorded his 6th game winner in league play, tying him with Touloute for 8th all time on that list.

It was his 6th game winner in all competitions, tying him with Brian Harris for 9th all time on that list.

It was Reget’s 5th game winner in league play and all competitions this season, that’s tied for the second most in a single season for the Comets with Vahid Assadpour in the 2016-2017 season and Byron Alvarez in the 2011-2012 season.

Reget’s 4 goals gave him 65 points in all competitions, moving him ahead of Matingou and into 17th all time on that list.

Ignacio Flores’s goal was his 65th in league play, tying him with Lucas Sousa for 9th all time on that list.

Flores’s goal was his 72nd in all competitions, breaking his tie with Sousa for 9th all time on that list.

Flores made his 170th appearance in all competitions, tying him with Vahid Assadpour for 6th all time on that list.

Robert Palmer’s 1st assist was his 100th point for the Comets in league play, he’s the 10th player to reach that mark.

Palmer’s first assist was his 45th in all competitions, breaking his tie with Ray Lee for 10th all time on that list.

Palmer’s 2 assists gave him 106 points in all competitions, moving him ahead of Sousa and into 10th place all time on that list.

Palmer made his 164th appearance in all competitions, tying him with Harris and Perez for 8th all time on that list.

Rian Marques’s 2 goals gave him 61 in all competitions, moving him ahead of Robert Palmer and into 11th place all time on that list.

Marques’s 2 assists gave him 24 in league play for the Comets, that broke his tie with Reget and moved him ahead of Adam James and into 15th place all time on that list.

His 2 assists gave him 25 in all competitions, moving him into a tie with Geison for 15th all time on that list.

Marques’s 4 points gave him 76 in league play for KC, moving him ahead of Kiel Williams and into 13th place all time on that list.

Ray Lee made his 82nd league appearance, tying him with Coady Andrews for 16th all time on that list.

Lee made his 94th appearance in all competitions, tying him with Alvarez for 14th all time on that list.

Nicolau Neto made his 89th appearance in all competitions, tying him with James for 17th all time on that list.

KC Indoor

Robert Palmer reached 100 points in league play. He’s the 44th player in KC indoor history to reach that mark.
