Futbol at Arrowhead Stadium

SKC vs Inter Miami was a spectacle to behold, but it raises questions about the state of Major League Soccer.

72,610 people witnessed Sporting KC vs Inter Miami on a perfect night at Arrowhead Stadium. That’s a record breaking number that were treated to a five-goal thriller featuring the greatest soccer player of all time. And Lionel Messi actually did exactly the greatest-player-of-all-time-type things everyone was there to see.

And so did Erik Thommy!

But the decision to move the match to Arrowhead was met with plenty of pushback from diehard Sporting KC fans. Was this an admission that one player is bigger than the club we love so much? Did they really give away a home game to make more money?

Or was it all just one big, magnificent spectacle to behold and remember for the rest of our lives?

That debate leads the way on the latest episode of Shades of Blue.

We’re joined in the studio by Cheyenne, who you may know as Between Clean Sheets for an extended episode. She gives us an outsider’s view on the potential impact of that wild night of soccer in Kansas City.

Cheyenne is on a really cool journey across the country after quitting her job and buying a van to immerse herself in the beautiful game. She’s finding every nook, cranny, and 4th tier US Open Cup match in American soccer.

Follow along with her travels on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
