As part of a series getting to know local coaches better, Thad Bell from the Kansas City Soccer Journal sits down with each of the Kansas City’s Current coaching staff. Coaches Lloyd Yaxley, Lee Nguyen, Lucas Rodriguez and interim head coach Caroline Sjöblom all took some time to chat. This is an opportunity to get to know the coaches better, a little more personally, and not as a response to the ups and downs of a season.

First up is goalkeeper coach Lloyd Yaxley. This is his second season with the Current and he leads a talented keeper squad. We find out how he got into coaching, how he ended up in the United States, his thoughts on his fellow assistant coaches, wanting to be a head coach someday and more.

Next up is Lee Nguyen. The newest member of the coaching staff but one that would be familiar to MLS and USMNT fans. We talk about how he ended up in Kansas City, what he brings to coaching and Kansas City.

Lucas Rodriguez has been with the Current all three years. The biggest topic his is favorite (top two at least) player now playing in the United States and Argentinian food.

Caroline Sjöblom was named the interim head coach earlier this year. She gives short descriptions of the assistant coaches, we find out how she got into coaching, what she does for recreation in Kansas City and coaching influences.

Thanks to the coaches and the Kansas City Current for the time.
