Across State Lines: Orlando Wins NWSL Championship

Two more US professional leagues ended their seasons this past weekend with their championship games, both involved former Kansas City players. The NWSL Championship featured the Orlando Pride with KC native Haley McCutcheon and former KC Current players Morgan Gautrat and Mariana Larroquette against the Washington Spirit featuring former FCKC and KC Current goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart and KC Current forward Brittany Ratcliffe. The Pride came away winners on a goal by Barbra Banda capping off arguably the best season in NWSL history as 1-0 winners.

In Colorado, former Sporting KC II player, Christian Herrera and the Colorado Springs Switchbacks won the USL Championship final 3-0 over Rhode Island FC. Herrera started and played the full 90 minutes in goal for Colorado Springs recording his third shutout of the playoffs in the win.
