Across State Lines: Ballisager, Denmark Qualify for World Cup

International soccer is again taking center stage around the world. This time it’s on the men’s and the women’s side of things. On the men’s side, teams are continuing to prepare for the 2026 World Cup, or playing friendlies ahead of the competition starting. On the women’s side of things teams are playing friendlies or qualifiers ahead of their own World Cup in 2027 in Brazil.

On the women’s side, former Kansas City Current defender, Stine Ballisager Pederson and Denmark are headed to the World Cup next year. The Danes picked up wins over Sweden and Serbia this past week that sees them top their UEFA League A Group with 14 points.

On the men’s side, while Marinos Tzionis and Cyprus aren’t headed to the World Cup, Tzionis heads into the World Cup having scored a pair of goals for his county in a draw with Slovenia and a win over Liechtenstein.
