Lineups

It’s the schedule-maker special, the league wanted STL to start the rivalry off with a win. Fly 3000 miles for the midweek and then a road game against a fully rested opponent is pretty much an automatic loss in MLS no matter how much you rotate. On the plus side, with 5 home games and 9 road games played they’ve got a lot of home games to make up after this, hopefully some of those games come against teams that had to fly far away for a midweek game before coming to KC.
I find it a little ridiculous too that we played a midweek match and they didn’t. That doesn’t seem like we’re coming into it on even footing. When that happens because of a tournament, that’s a part of the game. When it happens all from league play, that’s just poor scheduling.
Gonna need an energetic lineup in StL so I’m actually pretty happy with the way the subs went down in this last game. I think Davis can start since he got taken out at 60, I think Kinda can start and give Thommy or Walter a bit of a break. I like that Leibold was fully rested so maybe he can put in a 45 minute shift so Ndenbe can close it out.
I’m thinking:
Salloi – Pulido – Russell
Kinda – Thommy
Walter
Leibold-Castellanos-Rosero-Davis
McIntosh
Bench of Pulskamp, Radoja, Ndenbe, Hernandez, Tzionis, Afrifa, Zusi, Fontas, Espinoza
I’d bring Ndenbe on at half, Radoja and maybe Tzionis at 60 for Kinda and Russell. Game state dictates the rest after that for me
I wish afrifa and tzionis came on much earlier. Their energy renewed the press and forced lafc defense to give a little more respect to the counter (have yet to see pulido be a threat for that… I am unsure if I have seen him full Sprint yet).
I had a similar thought on the midfield, but opted for hernandez – kinda – Walter and up top I want salloi – afrifa – tzionis to start. My thoughts are planned subs for kinda, tzionis and afrifa at half or 60. Add hernandez based on performance and have an extra for whoever is lagging.
