Across State Lines: European Seasons Begin Final Run
With the latest international break over, teams in most of Europe are beginning the final run for the end of the 2022-2023 season. Promotion races are heating up and relegation battles are on going. In Hungary, former Sporting KC forward, Krisztian is helping MTK Budapest make a run for promotion to the Nemzeti Bajnoksag I. They currently sit second after a 2-1 win this past week with Nemeth scoring both goals. Unfortunately for Nemeth and MTK, Nemeth will miss out on their next match as he picked up a pair of yellow cards and was sent off in the game.
At the other end of the spectrum in France, former Sporting HomeGrown Player, Erik Palmer-Brown and his club Troyes are in trouble in Ligue 1 after losing 1-0 this week to fellow relegation candidates Auxerre. The loss leaves Troyes five points from safety and needing to make up goal difference with nine games left to play. Troyes are now winless in twelve games in league play, having won only once so far in 2023.
Here’s the rest of this week’s update.
