Across State Lines: Former Players Find New Clubs

As US leagues begin to kick off for the 2025 more former Kansas City players who had left their previous team are joining new teams. This past week two former Sporting KC academy players joined new teams in different leagues. Sebastian Cruz, who was in the Sporting academy, played with Sporting KC II, and was a short term loan call up to the first team, appearing in the US Open Cup, has signed on to play in the USL1 with expansion side AV Alta FC in his home state of California. Another former academy player, Jaylin Lindsey has joined USL Championship side, New Mexico United after having his contract option declined by Charlotte FC. Lindsey will be joining former Sporting players Alex Tambakis  and Gedion Zelalem.

In other news, KC area player, Caden McLagan has signed his first professional contract, joining Icelandic side Grotta. His brother Kyle McLagan also plays in Iceland currently with Fram Reykjavik.
