Mikey Lenis joins the pod | The Blue Turf

Erik Bergrud from the Kansas City Comets broadcast team and Thad Bell from the Kansas City Soccer Journal recorded the latest episode of The Blue Turf for the 2023-24 season at the now “World Famous” Kansas City Soccer Dome. The Comets are 3-0 after going on their first road trip of the year and the first with coach Stefan Stokic in charge. It was a good 7-3 result at the Harrisburg Heat with multiple goal scorers, a Zach Reget hat trick, and rookie Mikey Lenis scoring his first goal.

Up next for the Comets is two games versus the Texas Outlaws. On the road in Texas on Saturday and back in Kansas City on Sunday for the return leg. The Outlaws are expected to be a good team and have a 1-1-1 record after their first three games, all on the road.

A pair of bonus interviews after the normal Blue Turf. First up is head coach Stefan Stokic talking about the 3-0 start, the defensive pairings, and how he approaches the two-game weekend versus the Outlaws. Hopefully, the becomes a regular segment.

After that is rookie Mikey Lenis talking about why he joined the Comets, his teammates, and the “walk of shame” after his first blue card in the first match.
