Sporting Kansas City learned Wednesday they will host FC Dallas in the quarterfinals of the 2024 US Open Cup. The match will take place either July 9 or July 10.

Sporting KC also won the right to host a potential semifinal match against either Atlanta United or Indy Eleven, should they advance.

This draw marks the fourth time in the past six iterations of the tournament that Sporting Kansas City have matched up with FC Dallas, the most recent coming in 2022 with Sporting KC advancing following a 4-2 extra time victory. Sporting KC earned their way to this round by squeaking by Union Omaha in extra time in the Round of 32 and by trouncing FC Tulsa 4-0 Tuesday night in the Round of 16.

FC Dallas made their way to the quarterfinals by defeating the Tampa Bay Rowdies 2-1 on Wednesday, following their 1-0 win over Memphis 901 FC in the Round of 32. This will be the first time either side is meeting an MLS side in the 2024 US Open Cup.

The quarterfinals are split into two geographic regions with Sporting KC and FC Dallas ending up in the Eastern portion. The winner of this match will play the winner of Atlanta United and Indy Eleven. Atlanta United would host if FC Dallas advanced, while FC Dallas would host a potential bout with Indy Eleven.

On the other side of the bracket, Sacramento Republic will host the winner of Wednesday’s late matchup between the Seattle Sounders and Phoenix Rising. Los Angeles FC will host New Mexico United.
