It was a disaster of a weekend for all three of Kansas City’s teams as all three lost, eliminating one team from the playoffs, and putting the other two on the verge of elimination. On Friday night in Lawrence, Sporting KC II couldn’t take advantage of their home field advantage, falling to Austin FC II 2-0 at Rock Chalk Park to end their season. On Saturday night both Sporting KC and the KC Current were on the road for big games. The Current were on the East Coast to take on the Washington Spirit and surrendered a stoppage time winner to fall 2-1. Across the state of Missouri, Sporting KC at least gone on the scoreboard this time against St. Louis City. Unfortunately the rest of the game was similar to the first meeting in St. Louis as Sporting fell 4-1 leaving their playoff hopes hanging by a thread.
