Across State Lines: Feilhaber Becomes the Latest Sporting Legend

Published

on

This week, Sporting Kansas City announced their newest inductee into the Sporting Legends, the club’s hall of fame. This year the inductee is former player and current Sporting KC II coach, Benny Feilhaber. In his time with Kansas City, Feilhaber won an MLS Cup and two US Open Cups. He finished his career in the top 15 all time in appearances (167 league, 198 all competitions) and starts (147 league, 175 all competitions), top 4 in assists (43 league, 58 all competitions), and top 10 in goals (31 league, 35 all competitions). Feilhaber is a fitting and deserved addition to the club’s Sporting Legends.

While one retired Sporting KC player is retiring, another retired from his professional playing career. Former HomeGrown Player, KC native, and KC Comet, Matt Lewis announced on X that he was retiring from professional soccer ahead of the 2024 USL Championship season for Detroit City. Good luck to Lewis in whatever comes next.

Here is the rest of this week’s update.
