KC Current
Current Trade Prince to Boston
The Kansas City Current continued to make over their roster to prepare for the 2026 NWSL season today when they traded forward, Nichelle Prince to expansion side, Boston Legacy FC. In return for Prince and a 2026 international roster spot, the Current receive $125,000 in allocation funds and another $50,000 in intra-league transfer funds.
Prince spent two years with Kansas City, joining via a trade with the Houston Dash in January of 2024. Over her two seasons, Prince appeared in thirty-four league games for Kansas City, starting fifteen of them. She had three goals and three assists for KC. The Canadian international played in all three playoff games that Kansas City played in over those two years.
Prince’s departure from Kansas City puts the Current in an interesting situation heading into the 2026 season as their forward line is starting to get quite thin. Already this offseason KC has lost or moved on from Prince, Bia Zaneratto, who moved to Palmeiras in Brazil, Alex Pfeiffer, who the club mutually agreed to terminate her contract, and Mary Long, who suffered a torn ACL. Add to that the fact that there’s not an update on the status of two time reigning MVP, Temwa Chawinga and Michelle Cooper.
If KC continues to run with a three forward set up, the Current are left with Debinha, Haley Hopkins, and Ally Sentnor, who could play as a false nine as she did at times in with the Utah Royals, from the 2025 season. they also have two rookie forwards in Amelia White and Gianna Paul. It will be interesting to see what, if anything, the Current do to add to their forward line ahead of the season.

I think someone needs to be brought IN…
I did see, in The Guardian I believe, a listicle of the top 10 most intriguing young players or some such and Fridah Mukoma was on the list – as a striker. Maybe they are just recalling her.
In the press release when they announced the release of Pfieffer, McCamey, and Steigleder they gave an update on her. “the club has extended forward Fridah Mukoma’s loan to Beijing Jingtan FC in the Chinese Women’s Super League for the 2026 season. Mukoma initially signed a four-year deal with the Current earlier in 2025 before being loaned out for the 2025 season.”
I am sure they could recall her from the loan but it seems it was not in the plan a couple of weeks ago.
