Across State Lines: Three Sign With USL Super League Tampa Bay

Published

on

This August a new US Soccer sanctioned division one soccer league will kick off, the USL Super League. The league will run a fall-spring season with teams currently set to play in Brooklyn, Charlotte, Dallas/Forth Worth, Fort Lauderdale, Lexington, Spokane, Tampa Bay, and Washington DC. This past week, one of the teams, Tampa Bay Sun FC announced three signings for their inaugural season. All three players have ties to Kansas City having played here in the past. Two of the players played with FC Kansas City, Domi Richardson and Erika Tymrak and the other played in the KC Current’s first season in KC in 2021. Richardson spent most of her time after leaving KC with Gotham FC playing with them from 2016 through 2022. Tymrak moved with FCKC to Utah and spent a few years with the Utah Royals before retiring. She came out of retirement in 2021 and joined the Orlando Pride where she played until the end of this past season when she asked the club to terminate her contract. Listro had also been with Orlando having signed with them after being released by the Current at the end of the 2021 season.

Also this week, former Sporting KC defender, Nicolas Isimat-Mirin’s, current team Vitesse was deducted 18 points from their total in the Eredivisie. Vitesse was already under threat of relegation from the Dutch top flight, but the deduction confirmed Vitesse’s relegation as the club now sits on -1 points in the standings, 25 points from safety. The deduction came after an investigation revealed financial ties to former Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich. The Dutch federation announced the deduction because the club failed to meet their licensing regulations.

Here is the rest of this week’s update.
