A rare soccer doubleheader takes place at CPKC Stadium today in NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup Semifinal action. First up is NJ/NY Gotham FC (2-0-1, eight pts, 1st place Group D) playing Angel City FC (2-0-1, eight pts, 1st place Group B).

The marquee matchup is the Kansas City Current hosting the North Carolina Courage. The Current  (3-0-0,  nine pts, 1st Place Group C) face the North Carolina Courage (1-0-2, seven pts, 1st place Group E).

The Current secured the full nine points in group play with wins over the Houston Dash (3-1), Pachuca (3-0), and Tigres (4-1). North Carolina drew 1-1 with both Orlando and Louisville but earned the extra point in both by winning in penalties. A 3-0 win over Monterrey earned the Courage full points and first place in their group.

Current head coach Vlatko Andonovski has had to juggle his lineups but also been able to get players time that were not seeing the field. After struggles with injuries in the regular season, Debinha has come alive for Kansas City in the Summer Cup with three goals. Vanessa DiBernardo has also used the tournament to get back in form after injury with a pair of assists in the last match. Kristen Hamilton is another player making the most of the Summer Camp matches. With limited minutes in the regular season, Hamilton has two goals and two assists in these three matches.

Te winners of the two semifinals will meet in October in San Antonio.
