Melia is really good at penalties – Shades of Blue
The latest Shades of Blue podcast!

The regular Shades of Blue pod wanted to get together to talk about the shootout win over the San Jose Earthquakes. Sadly, prior commitments meant no Cody, no Robert, and no David! With the pod so short-staffed, Thad went in search of a sub. KC Soccer Journal staff statistician, historian, and contributor Mike Kuhn stepped up to review the win over San Jose in the Wild Card match.
We discuss the dominance of Tim Melia in penalties which is pretty amazing. Why would San Jose delay, delay, delay just to face Melia?
Was the Sporting KC offense a throwback to the first three months of the season?
We also take a look at Sporting KC’s chances against their cross-state rivals in the next round. What does SKC need to do against St. Louis to win the three-game series? Change formation? Play for a draw and some Melia magic?
Oh, and Mike rants about the playoff format. Not a surprise…
