First, the good news. The regular Keeping Current podcast team of Daniel Sperry from the Kansas City Star and Thad Bell from The Kansas City Soccer Journal, are joined by Jillian Carroll Letrinko from the Kansas City Current broadcast team. We welcome Jillian to our pod and plan on her being with us as often as her time allows. Jillian has been around Kansas City area soccer as a fan, coach and media.
The bad news follows as we found out this week that talented second-year player Alex Loera will be out for an unspecified amount of time. We discuss the Alex Loera news and how the team might adapt before taking a look at the loss to Portland (the Sophia Smith hat trick game). We do a quick preview of the Chicago match before Jillian had to sign off to get some rest before her morning job on local television.
Daniel and Thad then try to work through the potential options and formations that coach Matt Potter may use with the players he has available. There is also the possibility of Debinha and Vanessa DiBernardo may both get time. What is the likelihood that one of them starts? The importance of DiBernardo getting any minutes versus her former team in her hometown of Chicago.
