The Blue Turf: Comets fall in overtime
Another pod with added controversy
Erik Bergrud from the Kansas City Comets broadcast team and Thad Bell from the Kansas City Soccer Journal recorded the latest episode of The Blue Turf. We were back at the “World Famous” Kansas City Soccer Dome to watch practice and talk Kansas City Comets. Stick around after Erik leaves as we get a pair of interviews this week with Comets head coach Stefan Stokic and target forward Rian Marques.
Erik and Thad discuss the match in Milwaukee. The Wave are always a tough foe and the Comets can not give them any chances if they want to win. The Comets started well, jumping out to an early lead but ended up losing in overtime. It’s a problem they encountered at times last season. They still earned a point but Kansas City has to be disappointed with that result.
A big talking point. No, THE big talking point was a Kansas City goal that was disallowed by referee decree. What happened? Was it right? We discuss and do not totally agree.
Coach Stokic joins in the second segment. He talks about the controversial call and I think we know his opinion but good to hear it in his own words. He is also asked about giving up the lead, keeper rotation, and more.
Rian Marques comes on the pod for the third segment. He is the leading scorer in MASL at the moment. Rian lets us know his thoughts on who will be the leading scorer for the Comets. He is asked what he said to the refs to earn a yellow card and which language he used.
