Juice Boxes and Post Game Stats: The Weekend of KC Action

A busy weekend of soccer in KC and involving KC teams as all three of Sporting KC, the KC Current, and Sporting KC II were all in action. It was a complete mixed bag of results as their was one win, the Current 1-0 over the Utah Royals, one loss, Sporting KC II against LAFC 2, and one draw, Sporting KC against the New York Red Bulls. Here are the stats and milestones from the three games, plus a bonus Sporting stat from the US-Canada game.

Stephen Afrifa became the 57th player to earn a senior national team cap while a member of Sporting KC. His cap also made it 29 consecutive years that at least one Sporting player has earned a cap with their senior national team.

Sporting KC

Daniel Salloi made his 216th appearance in MLS competitions, tying him with Jimmy Conrad and Chris Klein for 10th all time on that list.

At 38 years, 115 days, Tim Melia became the 2nd oldest player to start a league game for KC, passing Mo Johnston.

Alan Pulido scored his 36th goal across all competitions for KC, breaking his tie with Benny Feilhaber and Graham Zusi for 9th all time on that list.

Pulido scored his 18th goal in league play away from home, tying him with Klein for 5th all time on that list.

It was his 19th goal in all competitions away from home, breaking his tie with Davy Arnaud for 6th all time on that list.

Johnny Russell made his 204th appearance in MLS competitions, tying him with Jack Jewsbury for 13th all time on that list.

Dany Rosero made his 50th appearance in MLS competitions, he’s the 89th player to reach that mark.

Jake Davis made his 50th start in MLS competitions, he’s the 67th player to reach that mark.

KC Current

The win was Vlatko Andonovski’s 11th league win with the Current, the most wins by a coach in club history.

Temwa Chawinga’s goal was her 15th in league play for KC, tying her with Lo LaBonta for the most in Current history.

Her goal was her 16th in all competitions, breaking her tie with CeCe Kizer for 4th all time on that list.

In the 24th minute, Chawinga passed Jenna Winebrenner and moved into 19th place all time for minutes played in all competitions for KC. In the 41st minute Chawinga then passed Addisyn Merrick and moved into 18th place all time on that list. She finished the game with 1,770 minutes played.

Chawinga made her 18th league start for KC, tying her with Darian Jenkins for 17th all time on that list.

Chawinga made her 20th start in all competitions, breaking her tie with Winebrenner and Taylor Leach for 18th all time on that list.

Lo LaBonta’s assist was her 7th in league play for KC, tying her with Vanessa DiBernardo and Alex Loera for the most all time.

It was her 10th assist in all competitions, tying her with DiBernardo and Hailie Mace for the most all time on that list.

Hailie Mace made her 58th league start for KC, breaking her tie with AD Franch for 3rd all time on that list.

Mace made her 71st start in all competitions, tying her with Elizabeth Ball for 3rd all time on that list.

Debinha made her 41st appearance in all competitions, breaking her tie with Chardonnay Curran for 14th all time on that list.

Debinha made her 28th league start for KC, breaking her tie with Loera for 12th all time on that list.

Izzy Rodriguez made her 54th league appearance for KC, breaking her tie with Kristen Hamilton and Kate Del Fava for 5th all time on that list.
