Shades of Blue spends the entire first segment of this week’s episode discussing all the transactions, the moving, the shaking, and all the offseason activity for Sporting KC.

Spoiler… its a short segment.

But the good news, is that new Head Coach Raphael Wicky is now officially coaching! Staff, as well as players, have the red tape to clear before everything is final. But last week, Wicky got his Visa and officially took his place on the sideline with Sporting KC.

They started that off with a 1-0 loss to Charlotte FC. There isn’t much to dissect from these preseason matches which are little more than scrimmages, but we talk about the head-to-head between Calvin Harris and Shapi Suleymanov on the wing. Who would you start?

Former Assistant Coach Zoran Savić is suing Sporting KC’s parent company concerning their control over youth soccer in Kansas City. Thad gives us insight into the lawsuit and we discuss the state of youth sports and the cost of entry to soccer in the US.

Finally, the rumored new kit is a bit more daring than the team has done in the past. And we’re here for it.

Apologies for some audio issues in the first segment! Those issues, however, I believe are thematically symbolic of the state of the team at this given moment.

It’s good to see coach able to start lashing the lads together into a team. Although I don’t envy his position. This late of a start has got to be frustrating for him.
